Fit Tip for the Men's McMurdo Down Parka: I'm 6' and an average build. I usually wear size xl and the xl fit me well. The bottom of the parka hit at mid thigh and the sleeves allowed a wide range of motion. Plenty of room for layering.

its warm check your size, they run big, very warm and comfortable, except for the damn velcro. its a chore to get in to pockets with velco closing, disappointed to find stiching was incomplete on flap velcro, it came off 2nd wearing. coat is bulky to wear when driving, also too hot.

This is MASSIVE! This jacket is huge. We got XL because my husband finds North Face Large a bit 'firm' - and the XL McMurdo is so enormous I cant imagine how useful it will be as it seems too much for a quick trip to the supermarket in sub-zero. The hood is too big and flops down over his face - It really needs a catch (Like My TNF jacket has) to pull the hood back off his face. Having said all that, the jacket is just what you'd want if you had to stand still (or move around a tiny bit) in the freezing cold - I dont know - Ice fishing? We ended up going out and buying the Mountain Hardware 650 down jacket (light, maneuverable) to get the exact thing we were looking for (i.e. A very warm versitile coat). He loves the look - but the bulk is a bit restricting. So we're not sending it back. You never know, maybe we'll try the ice fishing this winter!

House On Your Back (in a good way) A serious outdoor parka probably best suited for longer outdoor exposure, but kinda bulky for going in and out of the car a lot. It's cut long so it covers up a lot. It has internal waistband and bottom edge elastic cords to cinch it in as desired. It actually has 10 pockets total (whoa) on the outside (some pockets are inside others), and 5 on the inside of the coat (2 of those for water bottles). The outside fabric is a little stiff, and it's heavier than the Michelin Man jackets. The fit proportions are a little odd so it's helpful to try one on for size in a store first. That being said, I LOVE it. Quality and workmanship seem top-notch and I like the feeling of being in an impregnable fortress when I venture outside into the cold and snowy stuff, even around town. It's nice not to always be bracing against the cold and just relax and enjoy it out there...
