Description

Marker Ltd.: Barron 110 Ski Wide Brake Binding - Altrec.com Product Description:

New for the 2008-2009 ski season, Marker's backcountry Baron Binding with 110-mm. ski brake gives expert skiers the same performance perimeters as a racing ski binding, but with backcountry-specific features. This new binding is based on Marker's bestselling Duke binding, but the Baron is 1/3 lighter than the Duke and features a release performance that's ideally suited for skiers who weigh less than 250 lbs. (that's with all of your ski gear on--including boots, pack and ski helmet). While the Baron is lighter than the Duke, it still offers all the exceptional experts-essential components that you demand from a performance race binding, but with a better suited toe and heel design, and less weight than those race bindings--especially the ones that never seem to let you float in deep powder snow. Marker's Baron binding features a Triple Pivot Elite Toe that offers unprecedented energy absorption and minimizes pre-release. The fear of pre-release (especially on double-diamond boilerplate) is usually why elite and expert backcountry skiers opt for a racing binding on their backcountry and all terrain skis. Marker took the Baron a step further (no pun intendedÂ…) with a binding interface that features increased boot lug contact for better energy transmission between your ski boot and your binding, resulting in better response through must-make chute turns and potentially less effort--which means you might be able to ski longer with more energy. The Marker Baron also has a special heel piece that focuses power in the direction of your ski boot sole, but does it with improved elasticity direction, so you enjoy better heel hold with exceptional energy transfer. One of the coolest features on the Baron binding is the BCT--Back Country Technology ski lever. If you slide the lever to the 5- or 10-degree positions, it acts as a hiking aid on inclines or traverses. The BCT also has a distinct mobility feature in BC (backcountry) mode that moves your weight on your ski back by as much as 30 mm. for better kick turns and improved ski swing weight in natural backcountry conditions. Unlike other ski bindings that feature things like torsion bars, the Baron has this wide bracket construction (Marker calls it "Power-Width Design) that connects the binding directly to the points on the ski where the power from your feet needs to be transferred. While most standard bindings are sized to fit bindings that have a 63-mm. width, the Baron stands apart from the one-size-fits-most approach and fits skis with a waist width of at least 76 mm. or more. Stop stooping to compromises in the high country--check out the expert-oriented performance features on the new lightweight Marker Baron today!

  • Revolutionary Power-Width Design extends grip and control to skis with widths of 76 mm. and more (that's 10 mm. wider than most racing bindings)
